Neopets - Short Stories

Drackonack in the Details
Koya the Korbat Huntress solves a problem in an unconventional way.
Written for the Petpet-themed issue. It revolves around coexistence with nature. I came up with this story idea a few weeks before the Petpet theme was announced and knew it would fit perfectly. Koya is a character from the TCG that never got much development so I decided to create a story for her. I also love Korbats a lot and wanted to use a Korbat character.
Riches & Reality on Krawk Island
Two Krawks imagine what a mysterious washed-up cargo could hold.
For the Great Collab Issue, which had a Beach theme. My first time participating in the Great Collab! I had this story in mind for ages and it just happened to fit with the theme. It's based on an Aesop's Fable called The Travelers and the Sea, but I decided to put a positive spin on the ending. The story was also inspired by the Redwall series by Jacques, so it has a bit of a swashbuckler feel to it.
Dark Guardian of Meridell
A Darigan Eyrie realizes the Meridell peasants are more than just entertainment.
Another result after brainstorming short stories for each of my pets. Darigan Eyries remind me of gargoyles so I wanted to play into that kind of guardian symbology.
Fabric & Thread: Creation of a Plushie Lupe Part 1 | Part II | Part III
A Plushie Lupe is stitched from several important memories and textiles throughout Neopian history.
Oh man, I couldn't believe that my series got accepted! This one got me to the NT Avatar goal! I was brainstorming story ideas for all of my Neopets and knew I wanted a Plushie Lupe at some point, even though I didn't have one yet. With the release of the Unconverted tokens, I definitely wanted a Plushie pet of some sort. I started thinking about how Plushie pets might come about - they aren't really a 'color' but something different, what if they have to be made? Then I had the idea of all the different fabrics having a story tied to each one.
I needed a character that would be the one to 'make' the plushie. Donny from the Toy Repair Shop seemed like a logical choice and I thought the setting around Terror Mountain would be perfect for a cozy story.
Think Pink: A Seeker's Valentine
Professor Lambert struggles to avoid Valentine's Day and actually get some work done. I had to brainstorm to come up with a valentine's related story. I knew I wanted to write about the Seekers, and I've been meaning to write about Lambert so I took the opportunity to do both. I'm not a fan of valentine's day so I wanted to make it positive but not in a traditional, commercialized kind of way. I also thought it would be really funny to have Lambert be anti-valentines despite being painted Pink.
Headstones & Ink: Reports of a Lenny Recorder
About an archivist in training solving a ghost story. I had this idea in the works forever and finally wrote it out around the holidays of 2025. Then with the milestone issue coming up, I though it would fit the writing theme. I was surprised and pleased it was accepted for the milestone!
I've really wanted to write about a female Mutant character and finally got to do that here! I was worried this story would be too death-themed for the NT but I guess not.

Bones & Birthday Cake: A Lenny Curator Tale
The story I am most proud of right now. It's about a canon Neopets character that never got much backstory, the Lenny Curator! I'd been wanting to write something about the Curator for a while, and with the birthday issue coming up, I decided to tie in that theme as well.
I was originally going to write this character as female until I saw the TCG card using 'he' in the description! I love Mutant Neopets but haven't seen many female mutants and wanted to create one. That's ok though because I'm still really happy with how his character turned out. I love science and academia so writing a character in that setting was really fun.
Cheese Omelette with a Side of Flattery
My first short story. Its a Neopian adaptation of the Aesop fable, The Crow and the Cheese. I had a book of these fables growing up that had beautiful illustrations. I love Aesop's fables so I had to do homage to one here. The image chosen for it in the NT features a shoyru, although there isn't one in the story. I always wonder how they go about choosing the images.
