Hello, I go by Jakalopes. I'm a biologist in the desert US and am interested in ecology and population genetics. I love unusual animals and mostly focus on insects, especially bees. I love learning new things and reading, both fiction and nonfiction. Blogging is new to me but with Blaugust 2026 I'm starting on my real blogging journey! I hope you have learning something new by visiting my site.I own 3 dogs: two husky mixes and one terrier mix. I also have a bearded dragon and a corn snake. I read a lot of nonfiction about science and animal behavior. I love writing and journaling.
I'm also into a lot of other nerdy stuff, like Nintendo video games (big Star Fox fan) and playing Neopets, a virtual pets game from 1999! I do a little bit of creative writing. I read several books throughout the year, let me know if you ever have any recommendations!
