2026-07-21 Blaugust 2026

It's almost Blaugust 2026! I first heard about blaugust last year on mastodon but was too busy to take part and didn't have as much experience working with my own website. This year I'm actually more busy but I care less about that, so I'm going to do it for real this time.

A few months ago I also started coding my first personal website on neocities and have been having a lot of fun with that, so blogging is a natural extension. Last month I also started make my first zines ever, which I've wanted to do since last summer! My zines have an educational focus and my blog topics will be about similar things! And I had a ton of fun making them and distributing them to the little free libraries around my community.

What will I be blogging about? I'm a biologist and work in academia, I love ecology, science, and animals - so that will be the blog's theme. Yay, get forcibly educated! There are lots of interesting topics in biology that I would like to talk about - and weird animals and genetics are entertaining topics in and of themselves (at least in my humble non-biased opinion).

• -2-3 interesting genetics or ecology papers of the day/week
